ANDORRA OPEN 2014Melvin Slaats (Netherlands) closed with a final round 51 on Sunday to take the IV Andorra Open at Xixerella. Melvin, a member of the Dutch team for the 2014 European Team championship at the same venue next week, finished with a 10 under par 54 hole aggregate of 152. That was good enough for a three shot win over Gonzalo Mendoza and Pau Perez. Mendoza's final round 51 gave the Catalan (4th here last year) 2nd spot on the countback. Pau Perez, who will represent Andorra later in the week, closed with a 54, after being level with Slaats before Sunday's play. A treble bogey six at the second hampered the Andorran's chances. 2011 victor Herma Kleinlugtenbeld (Netherlands) won the ladies by four on 176 for her seventh all-time international open win. Pepe Garcia (Andorra), who finished 5th overall is the senior champion. Ricard Morat shot 160 for 4th place overall.

Dutchman Melvin Slaats carded a second round 49 at Xixerella Park to tie Pau Perez (Andorra) for the overnight lead at the IV Andorra Open. Pau, who was second in the 2011 Catalan Open, scored rounds of 51 and 50 on Saturday. Perez and Slaats were both seven under par on 101 heading into Sunday's final round. The pair were three shots clear overnight of Catalans Emili Sanmartin and Gonzalo Mendoza who were bracketed with Pepe Garcia (Andorra). 2011 champion Dani Gimenez was on 106.
